Virginia Rometty officially took over Jan. 1 as CEO of IBM, the first woman to be chief executive in the 100-year history of Big Blue.
IBM is a longtime corporate sponsor of the Masters, and its last four CEOs have been invited to be members.
Next in line, though, is a woman.
For Martha Burk, who led an unsuccessful campaign 10 years ago for Augusta to admit a female member, the solution is simple.
"What IBM needs to do is draw a line in the sand ? 'We're either going to pull our sponsorship and membership and any ancillary activities we support with the tournament, or the club is going to have to honor our CEO the way they have in the past,'" Burke said in a telephone interview.
"There's no papering over it," she said. "They just need to step up and do the right thing."
Club officials have declined comment, citing its policy that membership issues are private. At least there has been no mention of a "bayonet," the term used by former chairman Hootie Johnson that ignited this debate in the summer of 2002.
IBM has not returned phone calls seeking comment.
It would seem that something has to give ? the club's recent history asking IBM chief executives to become members, or its history of never having a female member since it opened in 1933.
To be clear, Augusta allows women to play as guests during the eight months it is open (October to May).
And the exclusivity of the club is limited in practice. Johnson, during a 2002 interview with The Associated Press, said Augusta National holds four parties a year in which only the members are allowed.
Still, these aren't your ordinary businessmen. The members include Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, CEOs from major insurance companies, financial firms and media companies, including Brian Roberts of Comcast, which owns Golf Channel.
None are women.
What has become clear is that questions about the way Augusta National does business ? and whom it invites ? are sure to get as much attention as the return of Woods or the emergence of McIlroy.

"I wouldn't put this on the CEO to do," she said, referring to Rometty. "It is the board of directors' responsibility. Samuel Palmissano, who is a member of the club, has a great responsibility here as chairman of IBM. And they need to just step up and do the right thing and get this over with."
Rometty replaced Palmissano as CEO while he stayed on as chairman.
When Burk was leading her fight to open Augusta to women, the Masters did away with television sponsors for two years to keep them out of the fray. When corporate sponsorship returned for the 2005 Masters, only IBM came back. Coca-Cola and Citigroup did not.
Burk doesn't consider her campaign a complete failure, even though it fizzled at a protest during the third round of the 2003 tournament in a parking lot down the street from the club. Without that protest, "this wouldn't be on the table now."
Just like that, she is back in the news.
After CNN, she was to tape a segment for "NBC Nightly News" later Friday. She might get a phone call once a month on the Augusta membership, and now can't keep track of who's calling.

"If you read the agreement...it specifically asks the government to withdraw its troops, to cease using heavy weapons in populated centers. The very clear implication here is that the government must stop first and then discuss a cessation of hostilities with the other side and with the mediator," Fawzi said.

He added that Annan would soon visit Iran to discuss Syria peace proposals, although no date for the trip has been set.

But that wasn't even the shocking part. Now brace yourselves for this game-changer. After Finn was killed, Sage went looking for revenge -- but she didn't get very far. Why? Because she died too, as did the vampire that she turned.
This means that if the Originals die, so do all of the vampires that they turned in the last 1,000 years. If you haven't been counting, that's all of them. Every. Last. One. Of. Them. That means no more Stefan, no more Caroline and no more Damon.
Can you say game-changer?! Of course, this doesn't mean that Stefan and Elena are going to give up on killing Klaus. That is until Caroline reminds Elena that if Klaus dies, Tyler dies. You see, Damon was ordered to bring all of the daggers back to Klaus, but when he went to get Alaric's, they couldn't find it, which means that the dagger -- which could wipe out an entire line of vampires, including Damon -- is missing, and the only person who knows it's whereabouts is a psychopath. Great.
Well, Damon did force Alaric to wear his ring because you know, with his track record, he could have ended up dead by the end of the episode without it. Of course, someone could have very well ended up dead because he was wearing it, and now an entire line of vampires is in some serious danger if they don't find that stake.
Now before all of these bombs were droppred, the Scoobies 2.0 were planning out their now ill-fated attack on the Originals. Their target? Darling Rebekah, of course. Although, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and Damon quickly becomes Barbie Klaus' target -- or is that "play thing," Rebekah?
To be honest, brutal torture has never looked so good. I mean, Damon was tied up in chains. How could I not be kind of into it? However, she was trying to drain him of his vervain, which would not have been so good if she actually succeeded.
Thankfully, we have Elena to thank for rescuing him -- oh wait, no, that was actually just a dream. As if we can actually believe that Elena would have the ability to rescue anyone. Damon's true savior is once again his brother.
As for Klaus, he was busy getting the family back together for an impromptu reunion. Once Finn realized that his "lady friend" Sage was in Mystic Falls, he quickly changed his masochist tune and started to actually have some fun. Hey, at least he had a tequila shot before getting killed.
We also find out that Klaus has had his baby brother Kol on "Operation Spy on Jeremy," and that's how he used Jeremy's safety to blackmail Bonnie into undoing the binding spell. Thankfully, Bonnie succeed just in time for the Scoobies to take out Finn. That would have been one horrifying diaster.
In between all of the crazy plot twists, one of the true highlights of the episode was the heartfelt conversation between Alaric and Caroline. After discovering that Alaric was the man responsible for her father's death, Caroline forgave him. After all, she too has killed an innocent person, and it's not something that she can easily forget.
This is exactly why I love Caroline. Out of all of the characters on "The Vampire Diaries," I feel like she has shown the most character development. Of course, becoming a vampire and dealing with the loss of her humanity certainly helped move her progression along. The Caroline in Season 1 would not have been able to forgive Alaric for what he did, but now she's able forgive and to understand where Alaric is coming from.
And that's what the show does best. "The Vampire Diaries" -- a series about vampires, werewolves and witches -- is able to transcend the supernatural and focus on the humanity of all its characters. Even Klaus, in his search for family and acceptance, can feel human at times, especially when it comes to his sister Rebekah and his former "best friend" Stefan. Thankfully, we'll get to see more of that later on.

Feeling fat? Maybe Facebook is to blame

"Do I look fat?" The?answer?is a resounding yes if you're on Facebook. But it's not your friends telling you, it's yourself.?
Facebook is fueling our thin-obsessed culture, says a new study from the Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt in Maryland that surveyed 600 Facebook users, ages 16 to 40. More than half said that?Facebook??makes them more self-conscious about their bodies and weight. And men were some of those with the most negative feelings.
While more women than men admitted they'd like to lose some weight, 75 percent compared to 58 percent, men were far more vocal about their dissatisfaction. Forty percent of men said they've posted negative comments about their bodies, while only half that number of women had done so.
"People are now constantly aware of their appearance, thanks to Facebook," Steven Crawford, associate director at the center, told TechNewsDaily. "A common reaction is, 'I need to be thinner' And it's that kind of thinking that can lead to?hazardous dieting."
"Facebook is an influential factor in developing severe eating disorders," Crawford said.
When you're unhappy with the way you look, it's?easy?to avoid mirrors. But it's becoming pretty tough to go without Facebook. Eight percent of those surveyed log onto Facebook at least once a day. It's impossible to avoid seeing photos of yourself and your friends. But we're not just looking ? we're comparing.
Timeline??? Facebook's new profile format ? makes it easy. With a click you can see what you looked like five years ago, and the comparison can be depressing. Nearly a third of people felt "sad" when comparing photos of themselves and their friends, and 44 percent wished they had the same body or weight as a friend on Facebook.
Facebook photo??comparisons are also affecting the social lives of Facebook users. Like celebrities who worry about the paparazzi, Facebook users are concerned every time they go out that their photo will show up on the network.
"Facebook is fueling a "camera-ready" mentality," Crawford said. "People look at photos before an upcoming high school reunion and decide not to go." Why? Because they think they don't look good enough.
The center has tips for people suffering from Facebook-induced body envy, including subscribing to Facebook pages such as "Adios Barbie" and "End Fat Talk." But if you can't stop making negative comparisons between yourself and others, log off.

O2-branded Galaxy S II's get ICS update, unlocked UK models left waiting
Owners of O2-branded Samsung Galaxy S II phones should now be able to update to the latest version of Android, the network has announced. Writing on its official Twitter feed, O2 says the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its Galaxy S II users is now available through Samsung's Kies software. O2 is the second British network to release the update, joining Three, which launched its ICS build last week. T-Mobile UK and Orange are promising the update in April, while Vodafone says it's still testing its version.
However, in a bizarre (and frustrating) turn of events, unlocked Galaxy S II owners in the UK have been left waiting for their update. After informing customers that ICS for unbranded UK phones would be landing last Monday, March 19, Samsung now says it's not able to offer any estimated release date. In a post on its UK Facebook page, the manufacturer assures increasingly impatient users that it's going as fast as it can --
Samsung UK is working hard to bring Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) to our Galaxy S II customers. We are unable to confirm exact dates as the software testing and approval process is subject to several variables, but we are working as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience.
This development is a reversal of the usual Android update situation. Generally, when a new version is released, unlocked phones are the first to get it, while carrier-branded phones have to wait around a month for additional testing to be carried out. We're not sure exactly what's holding up the ICS release for unbranded British devices, as the update has already landed in many other countries, including Poland, Hungary, Sweden, and Korea.
Impatient Galaxy S II owners can always change their CSC code and apply another region's ICS update directly through the ODIN utility. Or for those feeling brave, there's also the option to root and install an ICS ROM directly through a custom recovery. (If you don't know what any of that means, you're probably better off sticking it out on Gingerbread until Samsung releases the official update package.)
As ever, Galaxy S II phones in the U.S. have a little longer to wait for their updates, on account of the hardware differences from carrier to carrier. Leaked builds for certain devices have started to appear over the past few days, though, which is a good sign.

Mining boom in Michigan: economic boost or environmental nuisance?
Demand for metals on the world market is prompting a mining boom in Michigan's rural Upper Peninsula, where jobs are scarce. But possible environmental damage to forests, lakes, and rivers alarms some locals.
Jeff TenEyck was glad to come home last year. He had left Michigan for a small trucking business in South Carolina but returned to work at a new mine just outside Big Bay, the little mill town where he grew up.

Driven by a worldwide surge in demand for metals, mining is on the rebound in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, bringing the hope of jobs to remote and economically depressed rural communities. A dozen miles south of Big Bay, London-based mining giant Rio Tinto PLC and its subsidiary, Kennecott Eagle Minerals Co., are digging a shaft beneath a pine-covered flat called the Yellow Dog Plains. They plan to begin extracting nickel and copper early next year. Rio Tinto says the Eagle Mine will be the largest nickel mine in the country and will create as many as 700 new jobs.
Meanwhile, Orvana Minerals Corp., a Canadian mining company based in Toronto, is close to final approval for a copper mine expected to create hundreds of jobs in the sparsely populated western Upper Peninsula. Next in line, Aquila Resources Inc. and HudBay Minerals Inc. plan to apply for a permit later this year to mine zinc, gold, and silver at a small, open-pit mine along the Menominee River called the Back Forty Project.
There could be more. Mining companies have been busy prospecting for new deposits, crisscrossing the Upper Peninsula by plane and helicopter, drilling exploratory holes, leasing land, and buying up mineral rights. They've revisited old mines to see if new technology might make it profitable to reopen them.
"It's like flies to honey," says Theodore Bornhorst, professor of economic and engineering geology at Michigan Technological University in Houghton. "It's got a lot of people interested."
The prospect of jobs has also excited the hopes of residents. "It's a no-brainer for most people," says Amy Clickner, head of the Lake Superior Community Partnership, an economic development corporation in Marquette, Mich. "We do have a culture used to mining here. And the people who live up here do have to have jobs."
At the same time, many residents worry that new mining could damage the environment and threaten the natural abundance that they enjoy as hunters and anglers.
Around Big Bay, opponents of the Eagle Mine, including a local group of Ojibwa Indians, have packed hearings, gotten themselves arrested, and traveled to London to speak out at meetings of Rio Tinto shareholders. They have sued Michigan's Department of Environmental Quality for granting a mining permit in 2007. Most recently, they have been fighting the construction of a haul road through a wild area south of the mine.
"Of course we want jobs back in Baraga County," says Susan LaFernier, tribal council secretary for the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, which lies west of the mine in a county with 18 percent unemployment. "We'd be crazy if we didn't. But we think the harm isn't worth those jobs."
