A new automotive repair center in Blacksburg is one of the largest building projects happening in the east end of the New River Valley, according to local government reports.

Price Building Inc. obtained a building permit in December to construct a $756,278 building at 1208 N. Main St. It is the future home of Campus Automotive, which will provide vehicle repair and sales and towing,? said owner and president Matt McMurray.

McMurray, 31, of Christiansburg, traces the roots of the business back more than 30 years. His dad, Steve, ran Campus Exxon at 600 N. Main from 1979 until 2003. Matt McMurray took charge of the gas station at that point and ran it until 2010, when Campus Exxon closed.

A location of Stop In Food Stores is there now. Matt McMurray continued in the towing business while he has planned a new automotive center, for which he bought 1208 N. Main, the former home of a concrete plant and also Maxwell?s restaurant and Eats Natural Foods.

The former restaurant, a former whole foods store and a one-time concrete plant garage have been razed at that location to clear the parcel for? Campus Automotive. McMurray said he hopes the new structure will be done by July 1.
